Blueberry

Retail: 750 ml $13.00

Variety: 75% Wild Maine Blueberry, 25% Riesling

This is Blacksmiths most popular wine. We make two different wines and blend them together to make our Blueberry wine.

The first is made from native Maine blueberries. These are the lowbush variety known as wild Maine blueberries. They're tiny berries with an intense fruit flavor. This variety of Blueberries do not grown in the Mountains but in the barrens of Down East Maine. We get blueberries from the blueberry barrens located in Hancock and Washington Counties.  The berries are fermented whole in temperature controlled stainless steel wine tanks and then gently press off. Following pressing, fermentation continues to the desired endpoint under strict temperature control. The result is an off-dry fruity wine with fresh, zesty flavors.

The other wine we make is a white either from Riesling grapes from Washington State. These grapes produce a fruity off-dry wine with flavors of fresh apples and pears. We blend the two together: 75% Blueberry wine and 25% Riesling. The resulting rose' style wine pairs beautifully with pork, poultry and Asian spiced dishes. It's especially good with foods that include a fruit-based side like chutney. And of course, it's lovely to sip.

Description: This is Blacksmiths' classic blueberry wine, light and refreshing for summer, yet full bodied enough to accompany pork, chicken and pasta dishes. The grape wine provides a fragrant nose and a crisp finish.
