2004 Pinot Gris

Retail: $13.00

Variety: 100% Yakima Valley, Washington State Pinot Gris

Description: Pinot Gris (also called Pinot Grigio in Italy) is a pleasant and tasty grape that might remind you of cream and apples. It has full flavors of rich peach and pear, and an exciting spicy quality and acidity in the mouth. Lovely with salads, appetizers and simply prepared fish and shellfish. Our Pinot Gris is very concentrated and rich. The neutral barrel fermentation provides for a much softer, but fuller version of this wine.

Vinification: The grapes are hand picked, hand sorted and  pressed at the vineyard chilled to 28 degrees and delivered to the winery where it is transferred to small neutral French oak barrels.

The juice goes through primary (sugar to alcohol) and secondary (malo-lactic) fermentation in the barrels. When secondary fermentation is completed the wine is removed from the barrels hot and cold stabilized and bottled.

2006 Vintage Update: The 2006 vintage was fermented in stainless steel. The wine will be released in summer of 2007. The style will be more reminiscent of the Italian version as represented by the new name of Pinot Grigio.
