The winery was started in 1999 at the site of the South Casco blacksmith. The tasting room is in the original house, the winery is housed in the refurbished barn and the blacksmith shop is still on site (awaiting restoration). The first year we produced 1,000 cases of wine and have been growing ever since, investing in newer an better technology for the production of fine wines.

Blacksmiths is one of Maine’s largest wineries producing grape and fruit wines and the first winery in Maine recognized with silver and bronze medals for a grape wine in International Wine Competitions. Blacksmiths is also the first winery in Maine to produce fortified wines, both port and blueberry. We make our fruit wines from Maine fruit including cider,  blueberry, cranberry, elderberry and raspberry.
